Hopefully either this one (the LE500) the subsequent standard model or indeed the rumoured new convertible

I am far from convinced it will look like this, but you never know:

It's a rapid response vehicle, if they need a people carrier then they call on the MG7 or more likely the Nanjing special vehicles armoured trucks!

No the boot is not open, see this Chinese TF Video for the explanation Wink

PS You might be able to translate the soundtrack for us Exclamation

PS You might be able to translate the soundtrack for us Exclamation
typically for a Chinese link, it presumes an interrent link of 80 megamickeymousesorcerorsapprentices.

And anyway, unless the soundtrack is "1 2 3 4 5" I'm not going to be able to translate it (and even that sounds really rude to me! Wink )

    So here's an attempt:

    Nee nar nee nar! Nyeeeeowwwwmmmm!

I was just going to ask "It's sounds like they're singing "deutsch! deutsch!" wonder what that means in Chinese!

Oh the irony - a Nanjing-built TF from the robots of Longbridge for the Chinese Police following the alleged mismanagement of B*W and the soundtrack is German! (looks for slap doh lol smiley, finds Laughing)

I'll get some food and leave it to load...(one third loaded in 15 minutes)

I googled a line from the lyrics: the song is "Deutschland" by "Die Prinzen" - what an odd choice!

We love our cars more than our women
Because we can trust German cars

    http://german.about.com/library/blmus_prinzen01e.htm

This is an irreverent, satirical song that makes a few pointed
remarks about the homeland of "Die Prinzen." This single from the CD
album "D" (for "Deutschland") was released on the 40th anniversary of
the building of the Berlin Wall in 2001. ("...pünktlich zum 40.
Jahrestag des Mauerbaus präsentieren Die Prinzen ihre Single
"Deutschland".) Some references in the song text are borrowed from
right-wing, neo-Nazi phrases, and the opening chorus of "Deutsch,
deutsch, deutsch..." is reminiscent of Nazi times. But the song
satirizes such overt patriotism and other behaviors that are "typisch
Deutsch." In case there's any doubt this is satire, Die Prinzen use
their favorite word ("Schwein") at the very end to replace "sein" ("to
    be").

    German, German, German...

Of course a German invented "Wetten, dass"*
Many thanks for the enjoyable hours
We're the friendliest customers in this world
We're modest - we have money
The very best in any sport
The taxes here set a world record
    Visit Germany and stay here
It's this kind of visitor we wait for
Anyone who likes it can live here
We're the friendliest people in this world

    German, German...

Just one little thing is out of whack
And that is, Schumacher** doesn't drive a Mercedes

    Refrain:
All that is Germany - all that is us
You won't find that anywhere else - only here only here
All that is Germany - all that is us
    We live and die here

    German, German...

Many people are arrogant about Germany
And some think it's cool to be an a--hole
There are some who like to complain about Kanaken [foreigners]
And travel to Thailand every year to f---
We love our cars more than our women
Because we can trust German cars
God kissed the earth just once
Right on the spot where Germany is now
We're the best everywhere - naturally also in bed
And we're especially nice to dogs and cats

    All that is Germany...

We're really good at busting someone in the chops
We can also be relied on for starting fires
    We like order and cleanliness
We're always ready for a war
Friendly greetings to the world, understand
We can be proud of Germany... SWINE!

    Swine, swine...

    All that is Germany...

    Right, seen it.

What an odd choice of track!

The words about flying to Thailand / only German cars are any good come up while the camera is showing the driver's perspective at 01:40... *slap*

I'm glad it says "Police" in the Western European alphabet as I do not know those Chinese characters. I can't read Chinese, so those who can will excuse me for thinking *smurfette* *X-wing fighter lands on picnic table*. Laughing

And at 02:40 do we realise that we were in an MG dealership all the time with two MG7s?Laughing

(oh yes, the "open rear boot" is clearly a "Milk Tray chocolates carrier" to transport a heart-shaped box of chocolates to "let her heart beat faster" Wink )

I think the notes are a hoot TBH. Germans don't see "McLaren", since the days of Häkkinen they've only seen "Mercedes".

And "You Bet!" is translated literally (inaccurately) as "Wanna Bet?" in the original...

It could be worse. In the autobiography of Wolfgang Flur from Kraftwerk he references the film "Short Circuit" (as a(n ex-) robot) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short_Circuit - in German, this is called "Nummer 5 Lebt" (Number 5 is Alive) and the translator has no clue - but he also mentions a concert in "Warschau" in the English translation...clue - the capital of Poland! albino

PS having a fun holiday Steve? lol!

Yes thanks. Now the rain has stopped, so we went on a lavada walk. A lavada is a water channel, a bit like a leet, that brings water down from the hills into the towns. After all the rain yesterday the lavadas were overflowing so we all got very wet feet. Herself is soaking in the bath now, while I surf.

Beer and fish later. Cheers Thumbs Up

Noticed that my local dealer had an advert on the front page of the motoring section of the local paper today. That's the first advert from them I've seen.

I note too that the cigarette lighter is not a shiny chrome affair, unlike the LE500..

As for promoting the TF, I just had a letter from the dealer with an insert from the local MG club!
