Even though the production version isn't going to look like that, I still reckon it will be a looker.

I also love the fact that the lights for the concept are wired into a good old, British, three pin plug...

yes, the plug is triangular like a 15A one. I have often wondered why BS 1363(?) 13A plugs are made in PRC if they don't use them themselves.

    Alternatively, it's a plug-in hybrid, and this is a 25m Range Extender:

But they do use them themselves!

as do quite a few other countries other than the UK, several of which also have MGs on sale:

"Bahrain, Bangladesh, Belize, Botswana, Brunei, Cameroon, Channel Islands, China, Cyprus, Dominica, El Salvador, Gambia, Ghana, Gibraltar, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Hong Kong, Iraq, Ireland, Isle of Man, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Lebanon, Macau, Malawi, Malaysia, Maldives, Malta, Mauritius, Myanmar, Nigeria, Oman, Qatar, St. Kitts-Nevis, St. Lucia, St. Vincent, Saudi Arabia, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Tanzania, Uganda, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, Vietnam, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe."

Just to confuse things, China does use other types of plugs as well:

well well well! What a list! Burma and Vietnam - but not Laos (where you can buy an MG) or Cambodia, or Thailand, who drive on the left, and not India either!

    (looks again - Saudi Arabia???)

I saw this 'car' in person yesterday.

It's just one big lump of plastic!

Details like the door, bonnet, tailgate shut lines are just carved out for example.

The rear lights weren't tinted on it any longer either.

    Great to see.

reminds me of that spypic from Longbridge where the front of the car was on wooden sticks!

meanwhile, hundreds (1700?) of the production version were sold last month in China...

Yeah I think it has some sort of wood chassis which the wheels etc mount to.

    20" wheels they were to.

I think Union Blue is now my favourite colour.

The prototype I meant was an MGR one - RDX60? - which was clearly propped up on a stick.

I'd love to have a play with one of those 3D printers that can print blocks of plastic the size of a car!

At least the Icon is an actual car...

They showed us a smallish 3D printer inside the technical center and a couple of prototype parts it had produced.
