    Sales Figures 2011

Post by Windy on Mon Feb 14, 2011 4:37 pm

    According to China Car Times,

SAIC’s proprietary brands, Roewe and MG, reported a combined tally of 20,127 units for January, up 34.1 percent year on year.

That would be record monthly sales, is the MG6 Saloon doing well?

Should find out in the next couple of days, news is slightly delayed by the new year holidays.

    January 2011 Sales

Post by Windy on Wed Feb 16, 2011 10:15 am

    January 2011 Sales

    Record sales for MG,
    Record sales for Roewe,
Sales of all models, except the UK MG TF are up.

Unfortunately the MG6 Saloon figures are included with the MG6 Fastback figures but as MG6 sales have doubled it seems reasonable to say that the MG6 saloon is selling well, in fact it probably sold out and sales may have been limited by the fact that it was only available in black!

It looks rather like a lot of customers have opted to buy an MG6 Saloon instead of a Roewe 550!

Maybe the biggest news is the Roewe 350 - ever since its launch it has been on the verge of overtaking the Roewe 550 and at last it has, and not by a small amount either, its 30% ahead!

    February 2011 Sales

After record sales in January, they were bound to drop back and once again February hasn't managed to reach January sales levels, not helped by the new year holidays. However SAIC Motor stays in 19th place and the Roewe 350 remains at position 45 so it is not a bad month, except for the MG6.

The MG3 SW seems to have come to an end, the new MG3 will begin sales in March.

We have a double helping of figures, after some of them went missing last month.

The figures for the MG3 have taken over from the MG3SW with no way of knowing how many of each, although as the MG3SW is now out of production its contribution must be about zero.

Also the line for the UK sales includes all UK registrations, both MG TF and MG6. No UK MG6s have been sold yet but with TF sales so low the few pre prodution cars will have affected the line.

yes, the Roewe 550 was THE seller for so long but is now behind both the smaller cars.

    AS you might expect, perhaps.

I know the 750 is having a facelift - what about the 550?

Next year, when the petrol-electric version gets introduced. Presumably it will also get an Inkanet screen?

It's not looking too good for the predicted doubling of sales, but the MG3 has pushed SAIC Motor up into 18th place and ahead of April last year so there are probably better months to come.

No, the German press talks about over-capacity in China with sales maybe rising 10% a year...

Everyone (the Germans, the French) seems to be talking about a massive boom in sales and it may not be coming...

Let's hope so. I know of another person who signed on the paper this morning. As the MG6 they are buying is already in the showroom they will drive away with it on Tuesday (TSE spec). Mine was delivered today, has gone off for PDI and should be ready after Wednesday. I'm collecting her on Saturday 18th!!! Happy days! Very Happy

Disapointing, the SMMT say 48 MGs registered in June so no record.

Maybe they are only making two per day and there is a waiting list?

Atmos on mg-rover.org says MG's British sales in July were only 36...

    http://forums.mg-rover.org/showpost.php?p=4568826&postcount=199

To reach even an annualised 2000, they would need to be selling over 160 a month or over four times that...and 36 cars barely covers each dealership registering a single Magnette as a demonstrator...

    July & August 2011 Sales

The Roewe 350 is consistently outselling the BMW 3 series Smile

    That's the most interesting bit!

You need a wider screen, or if your browser has a zoom facility zoom out a bit - in IE that is the View menu/Zoom.

Only one month left and it will be time for a new chart, I will try to make that one a bit smaller, meanwhile you could try clicking: Sales Graph

    Year 2011

MG was up from 29,558 to 50,551 while Roewe didn't do so well, droping from 131,001 to 113,313.
SAIC Motor (MG and Roewe) was up from 160,559 to 163,864.

Not quite to plan but at least SAIC Motor was up and for most of the year kept its place at 19/20, although it's ended the year in 16th - it's highest position ever.

For MG it's been another successful year and with the MG5 due next year is looking good for the future too.

Wow - MG was supposed to hit 60,000 and didn't, but that seems a poor result for its sister marque whose sales have headed the Roewe.

The logarithmic scale somewhat plays down the meteoric 1500% month-on-month rise of the UK - it must surely fall substantially in January. Nearly as many new-model MG6s sold in the UK as outgoing-model MG7s sold in China!
EDIT as in even after the Avis boost, about two-thirds as many! affraid

Even with the Avis boost the UK MG6 only managed 1.6% of the Roewe 350's sales, without the logarithmic scale it would only be 4 pixels above the start line last month and for half the year would have been on the start line!

The figures I got show 2,357 MG7's last month! I've swapped the China MG7 figures with the China MG6 figures...

    This commentary from gasgoo.com:

    http://autonews.gasgoo.com/commentary/summary-chinese-manufacturer-sales-performance-in-120127.shtml

The top 21 domestic manufacturers sold a total of 3.94 million vehicles in China last year, recent China Passenger Car Association statistics compiled by Gasgoo.com (Chinese) revealed. The figure is only two percent higher than the amount sold in 2010. Meanwhile, December continued to exhibit the trend of negative sales growth from the previous two months, with a total of 391,100 vehicles sold during the month.

Chery led the top ten domestic manufacturer sales chart in 2011, followed by FAW Group, BYD, Geely, Great Wall, JAC, Changan Group, Haima, SAIC and Dongfeng. When compared with the 2010 rankings, BYD slipped behind FAW last year, while JAC exceeded Changan and Haima surpassed SAIC. Brilliance fell out of the top ten, seeing its stop replaced by Dongfeng

As for the month of December, SAIC's sales increased the most at 20.2 percent, with sales of the own brand SAIC MG3 increasing an astounding 236.3 percent.
    (MG3 vs MG3SW). (Dec 11 = 2,671 MG3 and Dec 10 = 2 MG3SW!!!)
