MG en España - returning to Spain soon...

Post by Windy on Mon Jul 27, 2009 10:14 pm

MG will share dealers with Ssangyong in Spain

A few days ago I had the opportunity to talk to one of those responsible for SsangYong in Spain and, among many of the themes which were spoken about, came to light some details of the return of the new MG, now in the hands of NAC and SAIC.

It seems, the financial crisis has delayed the release in the Spanish market, but MG should not be absent for much longer. Commercialization will be held in SsangYong dealers and the range available will include models of Roewe such as the 550E, rebadged for the occasion, as in Chile. What should not be missing is the TF, a roadster with core engine and many attractions.

Woo! we've seen about Spain before. Where else are Ssangyong dealerships strong? Will they get MG6s when they go into production? From Longbridge?

Our Minsk Spy from Avtostil in Belarus is so much a Ssangyong* dealer, his member name on the Belarus forum is Ssang...

    * spellchecks Pyongyang (right language), Sang-froid (aren't reptiles cold-blooded? so that's not bad), Sanguinary, Swansong Laughing (I'll do Avtostil in another post)...

    YES, YES...

Official date for arrival in Spain of MG6 - in the first quarter of 2011.

More and more data come out on the new MG for the arrival on the European market.

At the Guangzhou Salon took place the official presentation of MG6, where the British firm announced that the new model in the first quarter of 2011 will have its presence in Spain.

What stands out most of the new MG6 is that at first did not have a diesel engine, giving way to the petrol engines of Series K. One of the engines have 135 hp 1.8 liters, and the more powerful 180 hp.

As for his dimensions, length of 4.6 meters will compete directly the Skoda Octavia, the price is still unclear, we imagine that will be the level of the European compact.

Gradually getting more data related to the landing of MG in the European market. Coincidiendo con la presentación oficial del MG6 en Cantón, la firma británica ha comunicado que el nuevo modelo llegará a España durante el primer trimestre del 2011. Coinciding with the official presentation of the MG6 in Canton, the British firm has announced that the new model will arrive in Spain during the first quarter of 2011.

The MG6 landing in Spanish land will be of British manufacture.

I was just about to start translating that sentence Doh

That's the first I've heard of LHD production at Longbridge - when MGs in Belarus are Chinese...

Motorspain claims there will be no MG6 diesels:

Good news that reaches us. Since the submission of the MG6 all agree on one thing, the design is very nice. It hits the Spanish market in the first quarter of 2011. More data is arriving gradually related to the landing of MG in the European market.

It is more than confirmed. The MG6 landing on Spanish soil will be of British manufacture. . Downsides to this car?, There will be no diesel engines. The petrol versions will have normally aspirated 135hp from a 1.8 i engine.

However, we can also find delicious turbo engines around 180hp. With 4.6 meters in length, will be a direct rival of the Skoda Octavia, though we imagine that prices flirt with the compact. In this link you have more photos.

Is that a typo, or has the power of the 1.8T increased from 160 to 180 bhp?

As for diesels (spit), I wonder what the market for diesels is like in Spain. Maybe they don't buy them the way northern Europeans do, in which case it won't matter.

don't know what the price of diesel is in Spain, but Italians and Frenchmen expect diesel to be cheaper than petrol making diesel much more of a proposition than in the UK.

I see the lack of a diesel is actually the major minus point - no "counting up the airbags and looking at the ESP" like you'd expect in Germany...

Nice to see that Spain will be getting UK built cars, for France and Italy I think a diesel is essential.
