MG6 for South Africa - Johannesburg Motor Show 6-16 October - Sun Aug 21, 2011 7:34 pm

It does make sense for Lingang to supply RHD markets closer to China . It will be interesting to see if the South African cars are China or UK Specification.

Combined Motor Holdings has been appointed the SA distributor for MG and will re-launch the brand at this year's Johannesburg motor show, from October 6-16, with the South African release of the MG6 four-door...MG South Africa will be represented by 15 dealers nationwide when the brand goes live in October and is planning to launch at least another four models in the medium term.

The only RHD MGs are made in Birmingham AFAIK and this launch is scarcely 5 weeks away. Are these the first exports of MGs from the UK?

The cars will come directly from Lingang.

The new Morris Garages showroom in Ben ’Aknoûn, Algeria - Sun Jul 24, 2011 9:47 pm

MG UK didn't change the MG6 instrument pack it is virtually the same as a Chinese MG6. Only Roewe 550 and the exported Roewe 550's with the MG badges crudely applied have the digital instrument pack.

The New MG3 - Tue Sep 28, 2010 9:20 pm

The fascia is clearly pre-production. I would assume the supplier is not yet using the production tooling for the fascia and has supplied this off tool fascia for the pre-production build car.

Longbridge MG6 production decision delayed? - Wed Aug 05, 2009 5:58 pm

I don't belive the delay in annoucing Longbridge will get the MG6 is anything to worry to much about at the moment. I think it has a lot to do with the way SAIC work and everything having to be approved by the chinese goverment first and this has lead to high level saic and chinese officials visiting lonbgridge over the last few months so things take time. Hopefully an annoucment will be made next month when I belive (although this could change) saics top man will be visiting the plant so everyone is hoping this will be the visit that confirms the deal.
As i'm sure you have read a roewe 550 was run down part of system 3 to make sure it would fit and a few other things are going on the back ground that I have heard about so fingers crossed we will get some good news soon.
