OK, Now I am confused and at the same time convinced that there is only the W5 and no such animal as the W3!
At the show I never actually looked at the rear-end of the silver-grey one and only the white one. On looking at my photos again and enlarging the white one it is definitely badged as a W5 and is the SsangYong Kyron chassis from the 2008 take over by SAIC.(Edit No take over as Mahindra actually bought it early this year - more confusion)
Looking at the link that Windy posted, the other is labelled the W5 Concept! This must be the design that Roewe have been working on since early 2010.
I was told by show staff that one was the W5 and the other the W3 but now assume they were wrong and that there is no W3 (yet)so the section title is correct with just W5.

Sorry for the confusion on my part and please put it down to old age,too much beer or plain stupidity (be kind though)

BMC,BMHL and MG Rover were well know as badge engineering masters and now it seems SAIC are following suit.

In all Asian markets outside of China all Roewes get an MG badge and as such they have the MG350, MG550, plus the MG750 (and confusingly the MG3 and 6 and MG7 too!) They look just like what they are - Roewe's with an MG badge stuck on! At least BMC and the like changed grilles on each marque to make them appear different!

Mind you to most Chinese drivers (therefore Asian drivers as a whole) badges mean little as I have seen Mugen badges on Nissan's and TRD badges on Geely's and Cherys!! Plus Ferrari or Maserati shields on Audi TT's and R8's!!

Hi Roverman, Yes TVR and Morgan did indeed get away with no ABS or air-bags since the EU directive of 2000 this was due to their production levels being under 500 per year - so if 2000 MG6GT's were assembled then they must comply with standard ABS,dual airbags and also DRL surely - seeing as they are well over the threshold limit?

Having said that all Roewes have them now - even here but no MG6 I have seen has them but that could be when they were built and if it is a legal requirement here in the PRC, that I dont know!

Hmm, according to all the information available this is what I found....

European Union Directive 2008/89/EC came into force on the 7 of February 2011 all new passenger cars and small delivery vans through out the EU will have to come equipped with daytime running lights. This will also be the case for Trucks and buses in August 2012.

So how have they got away without them then??

the "protect and serve" and the 911 stickers are more American I think as IIAC you dial 116 for the police in Europe and the writing would be all Italian - just like the Chinese Police is in Chinese Characters (plus the word POLICE in English for the odd foreigner like me(as in occasional and not strange :-)))

Here in the PRC we get the 6 in both saloon and hatch with a choice of turbo or non turbo autos or manuals but I see that in the UK only the hatch in 3 trim levels and manual only.

Do they not think people will buy a non turbo or auto or even a saloon version then? or even a non turbo auto saloon?

Do you guys only get the dark trim too?

Looking at the pictures I took it suddenly dawned on me that there are no DRLs on the MG6. Here all the new Roewe 350,550 and 750s all have them now so how did they get missed on the 6? Watched the ads on the website and didn't see any there either!

Yes that's why they are so bad!!

nearly everything here is auto as Chinese don't like manual boxes(except taxi drivers who only get a manual box)just like they prefer saloons to hatchbacks

for some reason apart from taxis and QQ's auto seems to be the standard choice for Chinese drivers as even small cars have auto boxes (and standard leather - which the Chinese hate and fit seat covers )

The yellow one was a 1.5L version and the blue was a 1.3L. I think a 3 door will look even sportier
