"Rover cars steered back to success as MG Roewe" - Telegraph

Mon Aug 23, 2010 12:14 pm by patpending

If you are tempted like Reggie Perrin to blow your nose on today's China business supplement in today's Daily Telegraph, stop first and read this article (not on the website).

The report says that the British-designed Roewe 550 is becoming a common sight on the streets of Shanghai with over 47,000 sold in the first half of 2010 for prices from £12,600 to £18,900.

Jin Yongsheng of Sinotrust Information and Consulting describes it as an "impressive performance" and says that Roewe is still perceived as a premium brand because the 750 was released first (unlike most other Chinese brands with expensive models, because they began at the cheap end).

I just shared this at www.mg-rover.org also.

I wonder whether it was Ash from chinacartimes who first said "MG Roewe"? The article is favourable though it does mention the Phoenix disaster. It doesn't even mention how "Roewe" might be pronounced!
