I must say I think that orange is lovely and would like it myself.

As for the timetable

I see the MG6 launched at the very end of this year.

Roewe 350 - February

an all new MG3 from Pukou - September!

What's IS12 in December 2010? evidently a luxury car!

I also see two more small hatches, an SUV and something like the Volvo P1800...

...and no mention of an MG5?

NB I wanted my username to read "patpending locked out of the shed" but that was evidently too long.

So I have become Lucky 8 Ace locked out of his shed.

MG6 deliveries start December 28th, Launch and open order book is at the show.

IS12 is the Kyron based SUV.

Small hatches are the MG3 and Roewe 150 sisters.

The "Volvo" is the 350 tourer, also the 350 SUV.

MG5 - that's a secret!

Don't like that orange colour, it might look ok if it had larger wheels. Still like the grey and the red ones best.

I would expect the new MG3's launch to be a bit later if it's got 10 months to go yet! Wink

Thanks for the other gen, Windy. Are these "AP13" etc the 21st-century equivalent of ADO numbers? The only one I know is the mercedesy "W261" for the 550...

The Roewe 550 is the IP21, your W261 is the chassis code rather than the vehicle code Wink

In your example AP13, AP is the mid sized body, 1 is the version, 3 is the body type - SUV.

I said that other photographer should have found some sunlight, your photo confirms it - fantastic paint, just hope the stand lighting is NAC style for good photographs and not SAIC style...

Will it have that badge when it comes to the UK? I sincerely hope so, I love it. I thought MG was Modern Gentlemen in China and not Morris Garages? I must obviously be mistaken

true...Laughing

I am just thinking out loud here as I won't have the money for an MG6 anyway...I have come to the conclusion that the Mk2 ZS 180 doesn't look too bad without rear mudflaps (just as well, as they fell off... Doh)

A quick google will establish that my two favourite games in reading Chinese are shang spotting and nim jue noticing.

Here are two clocks to help us:

Am I right in saying that "Modern Gentlemen" is also an attempt to convey the sense of the words "Nim Jue" (~"Name Lord"), which sound like "MG", in such a way as to give an approximate meaning as well as getting two words that begin with the right letters in English?

Here's the M G Nim Jue logo...

It's clear from the show's floorplan and from the signage on the stand that SAIC is keen to use the phrase "Morris Garages" for MG for (probably?) the first time ever. I should know, I used to live in the Morris Garages, and they were Morris Garages more than 15 years before MG was even thought of! Wink

It happens to be one way you could read the two characters which sound sort of like "MG".

I think it has now done it's job in introducing MG to the Chinese and should now be dropped in much the same way as "Fun is Back" will not be used for very long.

Not sure what the Chinese will make of "Morris Garages", but they do like a bit of history, even if it is a little questionable in its accuracy!

I was once asked at the Oktoberfest, where I was wearing an MG cap and T-Shirt, why I liked Mönchengladbach so much!

(here's a big red vehicle with MG plates!)

(at least I don't think there's any argument that "MG" comes from "Morris Garages"!)

It looks from the show stand as though if you want a new MG then it will come from the Morris Garages!
I wonder if all the MG dealers will have signs up saying "Morris Garages", might be confusing lol!

And the lighting is looking good at the moment:

A very solid looking stand:

the rear wiper is horizontal, isn't it? the combination of horizontal rear wiper and spoiler = trouble! Laughing

Re: "Morris Garages" the wikipedia article is about MG cars;

This is the best resource I have found about the dealership "The Morris Garages" http://www.aronline.co.uk/index.htm?morrisf.htm though it doesn't say when the dealership was wound up...

http://www.morrisgarages.com/ , http://www.morrisgarages.com.cn/ , and http://www.morrisgarages.co.uk/ , are apparently cybersquatted while http://www.morrisgarages.net/ is a garage in Melbourne, Australia...

http://www.morrisgarages.eu/ is not used at all.

someone needs to wake their ideas up!

They are expecting the place to be so packed you wont be able to see anything from the back so they have added a second view:

or was it so that you can see the MG girls, looks like SAIC might have had some influence on the costumes?

Has someone made a mistake insofar as those mirrors are meant to be on the floor so as to look up those girls' skirts? [apologies for ridiculously sexist and silly idea]

I see our old showtime friends, the Red Arrows, are back.

Those girls can parade around as much as they want showing off their ankles and hoping their costumes will arrive soon, MG fans expect the red arrows to point at bits of car!

What does the text mean, approximately? e.g. I see one of those with an exclamation mark. Being Flash, I can't stuff them through Google.

Are "MG" and "Morris Garages" in Western script the only references to MG, i.e. Nim Jue, bye bye?

I expect they will cary on using the old characters as they are the way to write MG in Chinese characters, though I have noticed that the press have stopped using them!

I wonder if you are reading the new slogan to replace "Modern Gentleman" - "Make the difference"?

不 (bú) = "not"
